Dollhouse Assembly Kits

Everyone has the time or patience to build their own dollhouses from scratch, but that does not mean they cannot enjoy one at all. Readymade dollhouses are great, but the choices are too few, and getting it shipped or transported can be risky. Fortunately, you have a third option of dollhouse assembly kits to give you the benefits of both readymade and DIY dollhouses.

If you are planning to start assembling your dollhouse kit, you need to first ensure that you are wearing proper work clothes, or at least an apron. It also helps if you have set up your own work area where you can keep all the tools, materials, supplies, and other equipment at hand. A separate work area also lets you break up the assembly process into stages and leave the work at the end of each stage without problems. You can also have a better time building your dollhouse if you have an assembly table that measures at least2x3 inches. Although the table is not necessary, it can be used to complete your project neatly and keep your tools and supplies organized.

Now that you have done the preliminary preparations, it is time to open up the dollhouse kit box. Each kit will have its own setup, but they can either open up as a work tray or on three sides. If your dollhouse kit is die-cut, you have to remember not to remove any of the pieces in the sheets and covers unless the instruction booklet or leaflet says to do so. In fact, a good way to avoid the common problem of unidentified pieces is to write down a name and number for each piece before removing it from the sheet. It is also best to write the number of the sheet itself. You can use anything to mark dollhouse parts without any problem since you can either sand it off later on or paint over it.

If your kit is from a hardware store or craft store, it may not be completely die-cut. Therefore, it is good to keep a hobby knife ready at hand when you are using such kits so you can finish cutting them. Small houses tend to have fewer die-cut parts, but larger houses have many, so you need to quickly look at all the parts and see if everything is there.

The process of assembling a dollhouse kit can be easier and more fun if you have two people working on it. Even if you are working alone, try to find someone who can give a hand when needed.
